Walton County Jail
Walton County's seat is Monroe, and there is also a Monroe County with its seat at Forsyth. They are an hour apart and they are different jails. If someone tells you “Monroe,” ask whether they mean the city north of Atlanta or the county south of Jackson. We can sort it out from the arresting agency if you are not sure.
Four things let us start on the first call instead of the second: the full name of the person in the Walton County jail, confirmation that Monroe is where they were taken, their booking number, and what they were charged with. If you only have a name, call anyway. We can usually find the rest.
Once the charge is booked, bail is either set from the county's standing bond schedule or by a judge at a hearing. We confirm the amount with the jail, tell you the premium before you pay anything, and post the bond. A Georgia bail bond premium typically runs 10% to 15% of the bond amount and it is a fee, not a deposit. Some bonds also require collateral, which is released once the case ends.
After release, the defendant has to appear at every court date and follow the conditions set by the court and by us. Do that and the bond is exonerated when the case is over, whatever the verdict.
