DeKalb County Jail
An Atlanta address does not mean Fulton County. A large part of the city sits in DeKalb, and arrests there come to Memorial Drive rather than Rice Street. If you are not certain which jail, give us the name and the arresting agency and we will check both.
Four things let us start on the first call instead of the second: the full name of the person in the DeKalb County jail, confirmation that Decatur is where they were taken, their booking number, and what they were charged with. If you only have a name, call anyway. We can usually find the rest.
Once the charge is booked, bail is either set from the county's standing bond schedule or by a judge at a hearing. We confirm the amount with the jail, tell you the premium before you pay anything, and post the bond. A Georgia bail bond premium typically runs 10% to 15% of the bond amount and it is a fee, not a deposit. Some bonds also require collateral, which is released once the case ends.
After release, the defendant has to appear at every court date and follow the conditions set by the court and by us. Do that and the bond is exonerated when the case is over, whatever the verdict.
