Bibb County Jail
Macon and Bibb County consolidated, so there is no separate Macon city jail. Anyone arrested inside Macon goes to the Bibb County facility on Oglethorpe Street. If someone tells you the arrest happened in Macon, this is the jail.
Four things let us start on the first call instead of the second: the full name of the person in the Bibb County jail, confirmation that Macon is where they were taken, their booking number, and what they were charged with. If you only have a name, call anyway. We can usually find the rest.
Once the charge is booked, bail is either set from the county's standing bond schedule or by a judge at a hearing. We confirm the amount with the jail, tell you the premium before you pay anything, and post the bond. A Georgia bail bond premium typically runs 10% to 15% of the bond amount and it is a fee, not a deposit. Some bonds also require collateral, which is released once the case ends.
After release, the defendant has to appear at every court date and follow the conditions set by the court and by us. Do that and the bond is exonerated when the case is over, whatever the verdict.
